More on stained glass windows

I started to show you some photos of Lancaster Cathedral about three weeks ago. I'll pick up where I left off with the stained glass windows. Most have St Peter as a theme - well it is his cathedral. You may remember that Peter was a fisherman but even if you don't then you can read the words at the bottom of the windows.

If you take a photo in the cathedral then it looks like the one on the left. Simple photo manipulation corrects the distortion of converging verticals. I darkened the surrounding so that it is less detracting from the main feature and it also made it easier to get rid of the top part of the window that was only partically in the viewfinder. Finally, decreasing the contrast in the windows and making them a little darker brought out all the colours in the window.

Happy snapping
