The Nottingham Playhouse is in the centre of the city and outside the building is this mirror. It is called the Sky Mirror and it is certainly different to see a parabolic mirror in a public place. It has been here since 2004 and is a creation of the sculptor Anish Kapoor. I knew about the Sky Mirror in New York but I didn't know about this version, also by Kapoor but the New York model has only been there since 2006.I thought of parabolic mirrors as something to be found in physics, not arts departments but if it is the job of a work of art to get you talking about it then this certainly works. The photo on the right of just the mirror shows its defects, otherwise known as personal artistic detail.
