Close-ups are useful if you want to see a photograph of the ring. They are also useful if you have things like detail of a uniform or more usually detail from a wedding dress.The white vignette gives a dreamlike feel to the photo. The whole of the wedding day is often a blur so there is a link with this type of photography. On the right the photo was converted to monochrome and then to sepia. By increasing the contrast a little it looks like the bride has a suntan. Who needs to go on holiday!
